PAOLO GNOCCHI
Scrofano Law PC is proud to announce that Paolo Gnocchi has joined the firm in our Maryland criminal practice. Attorney Gnocchi is fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian with a long history of fighting to protect the rights of his clients.
Attorney Paolo Gnocchi is a dedicated Maryland criminal defense attorney with more than twenty years experience practicing before Maryland courts across the state. He began his legal career at a respected Rockville law firm but soon left that position to become an Assistant State’s Attorney in Baltimore City. As an ASA, Mr. Gnocchi prosecuted a wide range of serious cases before Baltimore’s busy courts. In 2004, he left the State’s Attorney’s Office to join a boutique firm focusing on criminal defense. In 2009, Mr. Gnocchi decided to open the Law Office of Paolo Gnocchi, LLC as a solo-practitioner representing clients in Maryland and the District of Columbia in both local and federal courts.

Mr. Gnocchi leverages his experiences gained as a prosecutor working at larger firms, and has since tried and won hundreds of criminal cases ranging from traffic offenses to rape and first-degree murder. He has also previously served the Office of the Public Defender in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties as a felony panel attorney and was certified as a CJA Attorney before the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
In 2017, Attorney Gnocchi was featured in the District of Columbia Bar magazine along with his father for their collective work for Spanish-speaking clients in the community on criminal and immigration related matters. Attorney Gnocchi has also made several appearances as a legal expert on CNN (Español) as well as local television and radio appearances.
Paolo Gnocchi is a well-known attorney in the legal community thanks to his tenacity and skill in the courtroom. Former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley recognized his skills and experience, and appointed him to the Maryland Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission, where he served from 2009 to 2014. In addition to being well known in the Maryland legal community, Attorney Gnocchi has a perfect 5 out of 5 rating on Avvo, and is top-rated by Super Lawyers.
Former clients have described Mr. Gnocchi as “top notch” and a “terrific, caring attorney.” Mr. Gnocchi graduated magna cum laude from the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in San Juan for undergraduate, and graduated in the top 30% at the Catholic University Columbus School of Law. He was appointed Chancellor of Catholic’s Jessup Cup International Moot Court Competition Team.
While in law school, he also interned for the Department of Justice and a criminal/immigration defense firm. He is dedicated to fighting for justice for his clients and is a phenomenal addition to the Scrofano Law PC Maryland practice group, where he provides additional experience for our growing Maryland criminal practice.
